When the attendant minister Pei Shan and others from the country of Annam were about to return home, they memorialized, noting: "When coming to the Court, we encountered various obstacles along the way. Now, it is requested that an official be sent to escort us back." The Ministry of Rites re-submitted the memorial, advising: "It is appropriate to send an interpreter to escort them to Nan-ning Prefecture." The Emperor approved this and ordered that an able interpreter be carefully selected and that he escort them back, so that they would not be out of place.
