The Guang-dong Provincial Administration Commissioner of the Left Chen Xuan memorialized: "It has been heard that the Sa-ma-er-han envoy is to return to his country through Guang-dong and will go via the country of Melaka to try to purchase a lion to present. The lion is a useless wild animal. Guang-dong has for repeated years suffered floods and droughts and has also been subject to earthquakes. The movement of the stars and the portents have all been unusual and the people are not at peace in their lives. It is requested that orders be quickly conferred stopping this mission." The memorial was sent to the Ministry of Rites which held: "We should instruct the escorts and interpreters to ensure that once the envoy arrives in Guang-dong he returns home quickly and does not cause trouble." This was approved.
