Yang Da-yong, a registrar in the Office of Transmission, was sent with 500 liang of silver and 20-plus bolts of patterned fine silks to take to and confer upon E-tao, the prefect of Jing-dong Prefecture. Previously, Si Lun-fa of the Bai-yi had rebelled and led over 100,000 men in attacking Zhe-ji Stockade in Jing-dong. E-tao led Ta-dang and other local battalion and company commanders together with 20,000 men in attacking them, but was defeated. Si Lun-fa then advanced and attacked Jing-dong. E-tao did battle but could not defeat them, and thus led over 1,000 of the families under his rule to seek shelter at Bai-ya-chuan in Da-li. When the events were advised, the Emperor was pleased with his loyalty and thus especially conferred upon him silver and patterned fine silks as rewards.
