The envoys sent by the king of the country of Java were coming to offer tribute when, while crossing the ocean, they met great winds and their ships were damaged. Only the interpreter and one ship managed to reach Guang-dong. All that remained was the tally-slip, with a half seal-impression, originally received from the Ministry of Rites, and several thousand jin of local products. The Ministry of Rites requested that the grand defender and grand coordinator be instructed to carry out an examination, assess the tribute products, provide rewards and send the interpreter home, while sending others persons to forward the local products to the capital. This was approved.
