Yi people of Jiao-nan attacked Si-ming Subprefecture. The Si-en Assistant Regional Commander Zhao Ting (Alt: Zhao Qian) and others went to provide assistance. However, the yi broke through the encircling cordon and fled. The Guang-xi grand coordinator made proposals noting: "Key areas should be defended, all the border defence arrangements should be further discussed, and the regional commander should be transferred. All these matters are of the greatest urgency." There was no response to the memorial.
