It was ordered that Li Cheng, vice minister of the right in the Auxiliary Ministry of Works, be given his monthly salary entirely in rice. Cheng was the elder brother of the former false ruler of Annam Li Cang. He was captured and subsequently brought to the capital. The Tai-zong Emperor pardoned and employed him. Initially, he was appointed as secretary in the Ministry of Works. When this Emperor came to the throne, Cheng was promoted to director. Some of the eunuchs said that he was impoverished. Subsequently, he was promoted to vice minister. At this time, it was further ordered that his monthly salary be provided entirely in rice.
