It was ordered that Tian Sheng be appointed as the commander of the Long-qing Guard. Sheng was the son of the deceased Assistant Commander [Tian] Zhen. Formerly, Zhen had been the assistant commander of the Long-qing Guard and he accompanied the expedition to Jiao-zhi. He was promoted to assistant commissioner but subsequently died. It was appropriate that Sheng inherit a position of assistant commander. However, as Zhen had realized many achievements in accompanying the expedition to Jiao-zhi, the Emperor especially ordered that Sheng be appointed as guard commander, and that paper money be conferred upon him.
