It was ordered that Mo Song inherit the post of his father Mo Sui, the vice commissioner of the right in the Jiao-zhi Provincial Commission, together with the salary, but that he should not perform the duties of the post. At this time, Sui had been killed in a battle with the bandits and it was thus that this grace was accorded to his son.
