Imperial orders were sent to the Xin-cheng Marquis Zhang Fu, regional commander of the force sent on expedition to punish Annam, and others. The orders read: "I have heard that you have captured the bandit's Eastern Capital, and obtained mu ch grain, sufficient to keep the army supplied. You should use it sparingly and not waste it. The grain supplies being transported from Guang-xi are to be stopped. If supplies are en route, they should be stored at the town or fort where they are at present. Order that the stores be well-guarded according to regulations, while the people who have been employed in pulling the carts can be released and allowed to return home."
