The Emperor sent instructions to the Minister of Rites Zheng Ci and the Minister of War Jin Zhong, as follows: "Liu Sheng and Lu Lin, who led the troops in capturing the leader of the bandits, have now come to present the prisoners. They should first be rewarded and then, when the regional commander returns to the capital, their achievements will be widely made known and they will be promoted in rank and title. The rewarding of those soldiers who have realized achievements is to be done in the same way as for officials. You are to fix the different levels of rewards." Thus 200 liang of silver, 1,000 ding of paper money, 10 biao-li of variegated silks and a suit of clothing made from ramie-silk interwoven with gold thread were conferred upon the Commissioner-in-chief Liu Sheng; 150 liang of silver, 600 ding of paper money, eight biao-li of variegated silks and a set of clothing made from ramie-silk interwoven with gold thread were conferred upon the Sea-crossing Commander and Commissioner Lu Lin; Wang Zi-hu, who was in charge of the soldiers who personally captured the bandit leader Li Ji-li was promoted to guard commander and rewarded with 200 liang of silver, 600 ding of paper money, five biao-li of variegated silks, a set of clothing made from ramie-silk interwoven with gold thread and a filigree gold belt. Four of his subordinates including Li Fu were promoted to assistant guard commanders and were each rewarded with 100 liang of silver, 400 ding of paper money, four biao-li of variegated silks, a set of clothing made from ramie-silk interwoven with gold thread and a plain gold belt. Li Bao-bao, the leader of the troops who captured the bandit's son Li Cheng, was rewarded similarly to Li Fu. Three of his subordinates, including Zhang Rong-zu, were promoted as full battalion commanders and were each rewarded with 50 liang of silver, 300 ding of paper money, two biao-li of variegated silks, a set of clothing made from ramie-silk interwoven with gold thread and a filigree silver belt. Those officials who presented the prisoners, including the Firearms Commander and Guard Commander Zhang Sheng and others, a total of four persons, were each rewarded with 100 liang of silver, 400 ding of paper money, six biao-li of variegated silks and a set of clothing made from ramie-silk interwoven with gold thread. The escort officials and military doctors, a total of 365 people were all rewarded with silver, paper money and silks, as appropriate.
