The Censor Chen Tian-xiang, regional inspector of Yun-nan, requested that the post of Jin-chi/Teng-chong military defence circuit vice commissioner be retained. The request was sent to the Ministry of Personnel for deliberation. An Imperial command was issued, noting: "The military defence circuit has recently been abolished. Why is Tian-xiang memorializing recklessly like this? Have him write a memorial of self-impeachment."
