It was ordered that the Qian-guo Duke Mu Bin take on the seal of "General for Subduing the South" and take on the post of regional commander and grand defender of Yun-nan. Imperial orders were conferred upon him. They read: "As your grandfather and father successively received commissions to guard and pacify the region, and the people and the yi trusted and submitted to them, you are being especially appointed to this post. You should keep the interests of the country uppermost in your heart and manifest the wishes of your forbears to realize achievements and to accumulate virtue."
