The chieftain Dao Ke-meng and others, who had been sent by Si Ji-fa of Lu-chuan, came to Court and offered tribute of elephants, gold and silver utensils as well as silver in lieu of labour. The Ministry of Rites proposed that they be instructed to take back variegated silks to give to Si Ji-fa and his wife. The Emperor said: "The chieftains who have come to Court have travelled a long and arduous journey. Treat them with kindness. They should be given rewards. As to the rewards for Si Ji-fa, we will hold them for the moment and wait until he comes personally.
